Pa and me, we one. 

The image of a happy African American father with his daughter is captivating in it's simplicity. Rarely in historical photos will you find an affectionate father, lovingly holding his child and even more rare the sight of an African American father. This image is profound and simply-complex. It's progressive and contemporary yet set in an era that what anything but. This image challenges the narrative of the absent Black father. It calls on us to wonder, "how?" and "why?" and "who?" We have to see the humanity. The man, that despite the circumstances of his life, holds his child with pride and adoration. This family is unbroken. This family is together. This family won. This family is one.
